We all know that humans are not perfect and that they will make mistakes every now and then, though it is the magnitude of the mistake and impact to others that truly matters.
Most humans don’t get up in the morning with an intention to hurt others, though they may unknowingly hurt others through something they say, text, or email. Unknowingly, hurt may even be felt as a result of misguided words, if the receiver interpreted the words differently than how it was meant.
If we take time to process thoughts before we express them in words either through verbal or written communication, we could avoid a lot of hurt and impact to others. When humans react impulsively, without thought, communication can be abrupt or harsh and lead to pain or sadness.
If humans were less reactive, and took time to process thoughts before speaking or texting, there would likely be a lot less hurt in the world. So the next time you have a thought, opinion, advice, or reply to someone --take a pregnant pause before you speak or even longer if you're writing a text or email and do so with kind intent.
