Ahhh, the holidays! It’s a wonderful time of year and also an exhausting time of year with all the gift giving, baking, volunteering, traveling, etc. If you’re like me, I missed writing my November blog post due to holidays, travel, work and life!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to see the joy, love, and happiness as we unselfishly give to others. But, the hustle and bustle can make us hit a wall when maximum effort has been exerted and exhaustion or frustration set in. Yes, we collapse. So, give yourself permission to take some time for YOU, YOU, YOU!
“Come on…how can I do that,” you ask?
It’s not too late to get organized and to set boundaries. FIRST— make a list of gifts you want to purchase, include a budget next to each person, place most orders online. Be aware of ship dates. THEN— mark your December calendar with shopping days, any events you plan to attend, and travel days. Say this, “It’s OK to decline invites.” NOW— book 30 or 60 minute time blocks to exercise 3 to 5 days a week. LASTLY— eat healthy. Practice portion control when eating sweets or foods that you know are not on the healthy menu. 80% healthy/20% not so much. BONUS— meditate daily. There are tons of apps out there with simple guided meditations…connect your headphones and relax.
